About Our Company

In the spring of 1983, Athens Fence was started by owner and operator James Dwight Gee. Before opening his own business, he had been building and selling fences in the Tennessee Valley area since about 1973. Athens Fence would be started when Dwight thought that the Tennessee Valley needed a fence company that was trustworthy, honest, offered quality fencing at reasonable prices, and understood customer satisfaction.



At first, Dwight worked as most small business owners do, out of his home. He then moved to a new location in Tanner in 1987, where his business flourished until the space that he occupied became too small. In 1990, he purchased and moved to our present location, 13100 Highway 31 in Athens.

Since 1983, Athens Fence has offered all types and styles of chain-link, wood, and ornamental fences to its customers. We also offer railings, gate operators, and vinyl and aluminum fencing. With the purchase of our CNC Router, we're now capable of routing vinyl fences in many different styles, with the customers' imagination being our only limits.

After Dwight retired in March of 2021, his son Jason purchased the business and today, we're still focused on offering that same great service our customers expect!
